What is CEREC?
CEREC is digital dentistry that uses CAD/CAM or Computer aided design and milling to create beautiful porcelain Crowns, and Onlays (a type of porcelain filling) in a single convenient visit. You no longer need to have 2 visits to the office or for weeks tolerate a temporary crown!
What can CEREC do for me?
CEREC digital dentistry can improve the look and quality of your smile, replacing worn metal fillings, fixing chips or cracks and serving as a shield against future damage. The materials used to make your restoration is durable, condensed and hardened ceramic that is coloured to match to your real teeth.
What are the benefits of CEREC digital dentistry?
- Only a single 2 hour appointment for most procedures (or less!)
- Metal, Nickel, Mercury FREE
- Bio-Compatible materials
- Highly precise digital scans, NO Putty!
What can I expect at a CEREC appointment?
We will gently anaesthetize and then shape the tooth requiring the restoration. A fine spray of reflective powder is then used to coat the tooth surface. A scanning camera is then used to take pictures of your teeth, which the computer converts into a 3D model. While you relax for a moment, our Dental team will get to work and design your restoration with the aid of special software. We will then pick the right colour porcelain block to match your other teeth, and insert it into a large 3D printer that will cut the block using diamond tipped tools.
Once the ‘milling’ is complete, your restoration emerges from the block and is ready to be fitted and bonded to your tooth using strong adhesive cements. This process usually takes 1.5-2 hours, and you won’t need to come back to have it cemented! You’re done!
Convenient, Comfortable and Cost-effective use of your time.
With almost 7 million CEREC procedures performed each year by over 38,000 Dentists since 1985, the technology is a cornerstone of modern reconstructive dentistry.
